Six-Word Memoir
Students of nonfiction instructor Julia McGill (’06-07, ’09-10, ’12-15) loved the challenge of the 6-word autobiography: Write the story of your life in six words. "Not Quite What I was Planning" contains examples like these: Couldn’t cope so I wrote songs. Some cross-eyed kid, forgotten then found. Born in the desert, still thirsty.
Jump In and choose one of the following approaches:
Write a 6-word memoir for…
1. your “life so far.”
2. your best/worst YWW experience.
Or: Write an invented 6-word memoir for...
3. the life you haven’t (yet) lived.
You can, of course, do all three! Whatever you choose, be sure to keep everything you write...there will be opportunities to revise, share, write more, or...not. And then... stay tuned next month for more from the number 6!
